Security camera footage will form part of the case against a 67-year-old man charged with murdering a woman in Melbourne's east, a court has heard.

Ning Wang allegedly murdered Qin Wang, 57, at Clayton South on Wednesday.

Her body was found at a property at Burwood East about 9.40am the same day.

Seven News reports the pair were brother and sister.

Wang, dressed in a black and grey windcheater, briefly faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday and did not apply for bail.

The Clayton South resident was assisted by a Mandarin interpreter.

The court was told there were no co-accused, and Wang had no issues of concern while in custody.

CCTV footage, a DNA analysis and a DNA report will form part of the evidence, the court heard.

Wang was remanded in custody and will reappear in court on June 20 for a committal mention via video link.
