A BREAKDOWN OF THE COMPENSATION AWARDED FOR THE BLACK SATURDAY BUSHFIRES:

EAST KILMORE-KINGLAKE

* Class action brought by 5000 residents won a $494.7 million settlement in December 2014.

* More than 1000 homes and properties destroyed; more than 1000 people injured.

* Survivors sued electricity provider SP AusNet, Utility Services Corporation Limited and the Department of Sustainability and Environment.

MARYSVILLE

* Victims reached a $300 million settlement with AusNet and others.

* More than 380 personal injury claims and 1050 household damage claims made.

* A trial was due to start on February 4 this year but the claim was settled two days later.

POMBORNEIT

* Fire consumed 1300 hectares of farmland and a large part of a dairy farm, leading to a $10 million settlement in 2013.

* Electricity supplier Powercor paid the victims 100 per cent of the losses, based on what the property was worth on the day of the fire.

BEECHWORTH-MUDGEGONGA

* Victims won a settlement of $32.85 million on the opening day of a trial.

* Fire destroyed 38 homes, burned 32,000 hectares.

* Supplier SPI Electricity, clearance contractor Eagle, and the Department of Sustainability and Environment and Parks Victoria settled the claim in May 2012.

HORSHAM

* Supplier Powercor had to pay victims of a Horsham fire 55 per cent of each claimant's losses, plus penalty interest, estimated to be more than 10 per cent.

* The power company had appealed a court decision awarding compensation, but the appeal was dismissed in May 2012.

COLERAINE

* Victims also reportedly paid 55 per cent of their losses from electricity supplier Powercor.
