Police are hunting a man with a distinctive tattoo on his leg who stole a diamond ring worth $24,950 from a Melbourne city jeweller.
The thief entered the Thomas Jewellers store in Royal Arcade on Bourke Street at around 3.30pm on March 11 and asked to be shown the 1.01 carat brilliant cut diamond.
The man then snatched it from the shop assistant's hands and fled the shop.
He was last seen walking towards Elizabeth Street.
Staff noticed the man, believed to be aged in his mid-20s, had a tattoo of a baby's face on his calf.
At the time of the theft the man was wearing a blue cap, a polo shirt with a Ford logo, and blue shorts.
