Brave man rushes to save neighbour from burning home

A heroic man has desperately tried to save his neighbour from a burning home in Western Victoria overnight.

Kent Grimster grabbed a hose after seeing smoke billowing from the Commercial Street Home, in Willaura, about 6pm.

“The moment I went out my back door, I could see the back corner of the home was just fully alight,” Mr Grimster told the TODAY Show.

“We knew from the back door of the garage that there was no entry to the house… it was hopeless.”

“I just tried to get as much water on the place as possible.”

Firefighters brought the blaze under control, but found a body in the debris.

Detectives are now investigating the cause of the blaze, police said.
