Desperate search continues for missing autistic boy in Victoria

Police are desperately looking for an autistic boy who disappeared in the Fraser National Park in Victoria this morning.

Luke Shambrook was last seen near the Lake Eildon area near Devil’s Cove at 9.30am.

The 11-year-old was camping with his family at the Candlebark Campground and it is understood he wandered off and hasn’t been seen since.

He is believed to have limited speech and his family says he is likely lost and confused and his disappearance completely out of character.

An extensive search has been launched involving local police, air wing, water police, dog squad and SES crews looking around the area and surrounding coast.

Police and his family hold grave concerns for his welfare.

“[The family] is holding up at this stage. It is very distressing,” Acting Senior Sergeant Andrew Walker said.

Luke is described as having a medium build, about 150 cm tall with olive skin, brown hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a black beanie, black windcheater, black t-shirt, dark-grey track pants, grey boots and a scarf.
