Body found after fire tears through Melbourne home

Police are investigating after a body was found in the debris of a Melbourne house fire. (9NEWS)
Police are investigating after a body was found following a house fire in Epping, in Melbourne’s north, this morning.
Emergency services called to reports of a blaze at the Latern Close property just before 10am.

More than 20 firefighters from the MFB and CFA worked for about 40 minutes to control the fire.
The body, which has not been identified, was located among the debris.
Investigations are ongoing.
An arson chemist is also examining the scene in an attempt to ascertain how the fire started, police said.
