Bike bandits wanted for two attacks

A French backpacker robbed and bashed in a violent early morning attack says it hasn't tarnished his view of Australia.

Police are investigating two separate incidents in Melbourne in the early hours of December 29, 2014.

Two men riding bicycles robbed and bashed their victims in two separate attacks, leaving French national William with a swollen eye, jaw and a loose tooth.

"In any country you can have something like this, it's not Australia specifically," William, who declined to give his second name, told reporters on Wednesday.

"I just want to enjoy my time here, I don't want to be scared."

His mobile phone was stolen in the Southbank attack.

About 10 minutes after William was bashed, another man was punched in the face after he refused to hand over valuables to two men as he walked to his car with a friend in South Melbourne.
