Boy, 8, stabbed at primary school in Melbourne's south-east

A primary school-aged boy has been stabbed at a primary school in Melbourne's south-east.

The eight-year-old boy was stabbed on school grounds at Brentwood Park Primary School on Bemersyde Drive in Berwick about 9am.

Advanced Life Support (ALS) paramedics and Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance (MICA) paramedics treated him at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

He did not require hospital treatment.

They also treated two other patients, including a female staff member who sustained minor injuries.

Police have spoken to an 11-year-old boy, who was taken to hospital for assessment.

Brentwood Park Primary School and nearby Kambrya College were temporarily placed into lockdown.

"The school enacted its safety procedures, and police and paramedics attended the school," a Department of Education spokesperson said.

"We are supporting both the staff member and the student and are providing additional wellbeing supports to those who need it."

The department said the school resumed classes shortly after the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing.
