Bernardi's party seeks Vic registration

Cory Bernardi has applied to the Victorian Electoral Commission to register his Australian Conservatives party in the state.

The South Australian senator created the party after defecting from the Liberals earlier this year.

To be eligible for registration the party must have at least 500 members who are registered to vote in Victoria and objections can be filed with the VEC until July 17.
