Three people rushed to hospital after helicopter crashes into waters near Victorian peninsula

Three people have been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a helicopter crashed into the water on Victoria's Bellarine Peninsula.

Three passengers were onboard when the helicopter crashed into the water about 30 metres off the rocks at Point Lonsdale just after 10am, police said.

All three people managed to make it to shore, where they were located by a passerby who called triple zero.

Wreckage from the helicopter can be seen in the water and emergency services are attending to patients on the beach.  Nine

A male and female have been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

Another male has been taken by ambulance to hospital with serious injuries.

Wreckage from the helicopter is scattered in waters close to the shore.

More than a dozen emergency service personnel are attending to at least three patients on the beach. Nine

The circumstances surrounding the crash are unclear at this time.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau will investigate the crash with assistance from police.
