'Where the f---k's the hazard lights?' Aussie mum has no time for poor driving

A mum schooling her daughter on the finer points of the rules of the road while driving through Melbourne's northern suburbs may have created a new classic catchphrase after witnessing a bad accident.

The woman and her daughter were travelling through the Campbellfield area earlier this week when they saw a ute come to terrible grief after a truck merged into the left lane.

Prophetically, the mum, who was behind the wheel, was in the middle of delivering a lecture to her daughter, who is still learning to drive, when the crash happened.

"Are you looking here? If you turn from the right lane, the inside – not that one, you just have to go straight. See?" the woman can be heard saying in video of the incident.

Up ahead, they spot a large dump-truck trying to get left, despite what looks to be a white Hilux travelling beside it in the desired left.

"Look at him, he won't let the truck in," the mum points out, just as the ute spins out, takes out a light pole, and rolls down an embankment in a cloud of dust.

"F—k," the daughter says, drawing out the word in shock.

"That's his fault," her mother says flatly. "Put the hazard lights on."

"Where the f—k's the hazard lights?" the daughter responds.

"I don't know," the mum replies, a gap finally appearing in her near-perfect knowledge of motoring.

The post, viewed close to 60,000 times, has attracted much debate over precisely who was at fault in the accident, which occurred near the scene of a horror smash that claimed the lives of two teens earlier this month.
