UPDATE: Man arrested after brandishing knife in Essendon

A 12-hour siege in Melbourne's north appears to have ended peacefully with a man taken into custody.
Police began negotiations with a man allegedly armed with a knife in Essendon around 8pm last night.
It's understood he had barricaded himself inside a home.

Emergency services were forced to close Kalimna St between Napier Crescent and Curtis St.
