A Geelong woman accused of killing her husband blew a kiss to her family members in court, as she nursed a heavily bandaged arm.

Angela Surtees was charged with murder after her 36-year-old husband Daniel died on Australia Day.

He was found by police with serious burns at the Whittington property on Saturday.

The 33-year-old woman blew a kiss from the dock to her sister and mother who were in Melbourne Magistrates Court to support her.

It was the woman's first time in custody and she required treatment for her arm injury which she received on January 25, her defence lawyer told the court.

Surtees' left arm was heavily bandaged from her shoulder to her wrist, and she cradled it throughout the brief hearing.

A forensic report and DNA analysis were also needed, the court was told.

There was no application for bail and Surtees was remanded in custody until her next appearance in May.
