An accused killer will on Monday face court over the shooting death of a man in Victoria's north over the weekend.

Police say a 43-year-old Shepparton man was shot in the upper body following a dispute between himself and his killer at a property in Tatura, in the state's north, about midday on Saturday.

The man was airlifted to Melbourne with life-threatening injuries but died in hospital on Sunday afternoon.
