Police allege Melbourne man Kyle Zandipour, 28, bashed Joshua Hardy, 21, outside a St Kilda Road McDonald's in the early hours of October 18 last year.

The magistrate's court on Monday heard three medical experts will give evidence during the May hearing, with Mr Hardy's level of intoxication an issue.

Other witnesses will give evidence about the demeanour and movements of both men on the night, and CCTV footage will be viewed.

The hearing will take place from May 25.
