Vic man shot in stomach

A man is undergoing surgery after being shot in the stomach in Melbourne's east.

Police and paramedics were called to a Bayswater North home at 4.45am on Wednesday where they found the injured man in his 30s.

He was taken to the Alfred Hospital in a serious condition, but police said his injuries were not life threatening.

Police are trying to piece together the circumstances of the shooting.
