Vic man struck by fire truck dies

A 77-year-old man has died after being struck by a fire truck in Melbourne.

He was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with life-threatening injuries on Thursday morning following the collision in Coburg.

He died on Thursday evening.

The driver of the MFB truck, which was not responding to an emergency at the time, is helping police with inquiries.

Police also hope to speak to a female medic who stopped to help the man but left before police arrived.

The death brings the state's road toll to 85, up on the 2013 figure of 81 for the same period.
