Vic man dies after hit by milk truck

A man has died after being hit by a milk truck in regional Victoria.

The driver of the milk tanker told police he saw the man lying on the side of the road but was unable to avoid hitting him.

Police investigating the death found the man's car parked on the side of the road about a kilometre away from the crash site near Lismore, about 170km west of Melbourne.

The man, believed to be a Camperdown resident in his 30s, died at the scene about 6.30am.
