Victorian arrested over break-in sex assault

A sleeping Melbourne woman has been roused by an intruder who sexually assaulted her.

The woman was asleep in her Elwood apartment when the man got inside through a balcony door, woke her and assaulted her, police said.

She raised the alarm after the man fled on Tuesday morning.

A 42-year-old Elwood man was arrested a short time later and is assisting police with inquiries.
