Motorcyclist dies in head-on Vic crash
A motorcyclist has died after hitting a four-wheel drive head-on at Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, the state's second road fatality in six hours.
The driver, 36, was travelling along Boneo Road at Cape Schanck when the collision occurred about 3.40pm (AEDT).
The male motorcyclist, from Mount Eliza, died at the scene.
The driver of the 4WD and his two passengers were uninjured.
Earlier on Saturday, a smash in Melbourne's CBD claimed the life of a woman in her 30s.
A white Toyota Landcruiser and a black Toyota Yaris collided in Docklands just after 10am.
The 36-year-old male driver of the Yaris received minor injuries.
But the 34-year-old female passenger of the car died at the scene.
A 29-year-old man who was driving the Landcruiser is assisting police with their inquiries.
The crashes take the state road toll to 26 compared with 14 at this time last year.
