Vic hoon does triple the speed limit

A man in his 30s has had his turbo-charged car seized for hoon driving after being clocked at triple the speed limit in Melbourne's southwest.

The 34-year-old man was found to be travelling at 173kmh in a 60kmh zone in Laverton North about 4.45am (AEST).

The Hillside man was interviewed and is expected to be charged on summons with speeding offences.

Police also impounded his GT Falcon turbo.
