Vic drink drivers nabbed on Australia Day

A man escaped unharmed after he rolled his car on Australia Day northeast of Melbourne.

The 25-year-old man, of Essendon, crashed his vehicle about 10.30pm (AEDT) on Sunday in Bonnie Doon.

He was caught drink driving, blew 0.214 and had his licence immediately suspended.

He is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving offences.

A 22-year-old P-plate driver was caught drink driving with six passengers in his ute in Lake Tyers Beach at 6pm on Sunday.

Four passengers were in the car and two were in the ute's tray, police said.

The driver recorded a 0.144 alcohol reading and his license was immediately suspended.

He is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving offences and other charges relating to breaching his licence conditions and carriage of passengers.
