Veteran claims still take too long: Robert

Veterans Affairs Minister Stuart Robert admits his department still takes far too long to deal with clients' claims, but it's getting better.

Mr Robert says the 21,833 claims received in 2014 for military compensation took an average 109 days to process, but it's better than three years ago when processing took 155 days.

Claim times for other types of veterans' benefits have also fallen but the minister says it still wasn't good enough and improvements are being sought by updating computer systems, which are up to 30 years old.
