Ute drives wrong way down busy road in frightening pursuit

The frightening moment a ute sped down the wrong side of a busy Adelaide road during a police chase has been captured on camera.

The chase began after police spotted a black ute with fake numberplates travelling east on Trimmer Parade at Grange around 9.30pm yesterday.

Police tried to intercept the vehicle but when it sped off a pursuit began.

Drivers were forced to dodge the ute as it careered down busy Port Road in the opposite direction for hundreds of metres.

Adding to the chaos, dashcam shows the stolen vehicle didn't have its lights on.

"It's deadly like I said if people don't notice that car coming and move out of the way," witness Steven Faulkner told 9NEWS.

"There could have been some head on crashes."

With shredded tyres the chase eventually ended on Tenterden Street in Woodville South.

While the passenger in the car was arrested at the scene, the driver fled with police later arresting the 26-year-old on Albert Street at Seaton.

The men were refused bail and will appear in court tomorrow.
