Unfair contract bill passes lower house

Legislation to protect small businesses from unfair contracts has passed parliament's lower house.

The measures would allow firms to void contracts if they've been duped into accepting unfair proposals by big business.

While Labor supports the bill, ensuring its passage through the Senate, it's concerned about small businesses bearing the cost of compliance, estimated at $50 million in just the first year.
