New Uber Reserve feature launched in Australia, revamped version of Uber Pool returns

Uber riders will be able to book their trips up to 30 days in advance in most major Australian cities through a new service.

Uber Reserve will roll out in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart, Darwin, Cairns and Geelong over the coming week.

Head of Rider Operations in Australia and New Zealand, Margarita Peker said the feature allowed riders to plan their travel.

"After an uncertain couple of years, we know that Australians are excited to get out and make plans that they can rely on," she said.

The rollout of Uber Reserve comes after trials in Sydney, Auckland and Adelaide.

"(Riders) told us the key occasions they opted for Uber Reserve was for events (30%), business trips (18%), airport trips (23%), and appointments (20%)," Ms Peker said.

While 625 days after the rideshare service stopped Uber Pool, a revamped version has today returned to the existing cities of Sydney, Perth, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Adelaide.

Uber Pool will also launch in the six new cities of Canberra, Cairns, Darwin, Hobart, Newcastle and Sunshine Coast.

Uber also hopes to recommence Uber Pool in Melbourne once COVID-19 restrictions permit.

The service comes with some key changes, with the experience now being door-to-door rather than requiring riders to go to a pick-up point and no more than 10 minutes being added to trips.
