Four fishermen have survived a boat capsize in South Australia after two people swam kilometres to shore in the dark.

A man raised the alarm with authorities when he reached land just after 6am, about four hours after the boat flipped off the western coast of Yorke Peninsula.

A second man reached the shore about an hour later as two other survivors clung to the overturned boat.
