Two men charged over Melbourne father's car boot death

Two Melbourne men have been charged over the death of a Melbourne father-of-five whose body was found badly burned in the boot of a car in October.

Kenan Balikel's charred remains were found in the boot of his unregistered Peugeot on Bulla-Diggers Rest Road at 12.20am on October 31 last year.

A 58-year-old man from Keilor Downs has been charged with the 42-year-old Footscray man's murder.

A second man from Kealba, 45-year-old Ante Bacak, has been charged with being an accessory to murder and was granted bail after facing the Melbourne Magistrates' Court for a remand hearing earlier this afternoon.

Bacak will return to court in June.

The charges come just three days after CCTV was released by police showing a 4WD tailing Mr Balikel's car 40 minutes before his body was discovered.

Both cars were travelling on Mickleham Road at Tullamarine, away from Freight Road where the 42-year-old victim was last seen alive.

Police said there was no clear motive for Mr Balikel's murder, however he did hold minor debts in relation to car trading.
