Mother and daughter dead after car collides with ambulance

Two women have died in a collision between their small car and a NSW ambulance.

The women, whose ages are unknown, were killed when the car they were travelling in collided with the ambulance carrying two paramedics, a doctor and a nurse near Valla, on the state's mid-north coast.

The medical team on board the ambulance tried to save their lives, NSW Ambulance said in a statement last night.

Emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway near Valla Beach Road about 5pm yesterday.

The medical team in the ambulance has escaped serious injury.

"NSW Ambulance extends its sincere sympathies to the loved ones of those killed in the crash and is providing support to the staff involved," a spokesperson said in a statement.
