Two in hospital after suspicious home fire

Two people have been taken to hospital after a suspicious fire at a western Sydney home.

A crime scene has been set up and forensic specialists will examine the Penrith home, which was set alight early on Saturday afternoon, police said.

The man was taken to hospital needing treatment for smoke inhalation, while the woman was taken for assessment.

"The fire is being treated as suspicious," police said in a statement.
