Two foreigners missing in Vic forest: cops

Two missing foreign nationals might be lost in a state forest east of Melbourne, police say.

A 58-year-old woman and 25-year-old man, who are both Asian, have not been heard from since Tuesday when they used a mobile phone to call for help.

"The woman contacted a relative on Tuesday stating that their car was stuck and that they were near a river somewhere but couldn't be very precise," Victoria Police said in a statement.

"The relative believes the two are somewhere in the Olinda State Forest as they have a friend in the area."

A search of the forest has found no sign of the missing pair - named Yidi Fei and Tianhao Jiang - or their car, a red BMX X6 sedan.

Police are urging the public to report any sign of the pair.
