Two elderly women trapped inside upturned car after crash on Sydney's Northern Beaches

Two elderly women have been injured after a two-vehicle crash on Sydney's Northern Beaches earlier this morning.

Emergency crews were called to Warringah Road in Frenchs Forest at 10.15am today.

Upon arrival, authorities found one of the cars had flipped and rolled as a result of the accident, trapping two women in their 80s inside the car.

Five paramedic crews, including Intensive Care and Special Operations, attended the scene to free the elderly women.

"Paramedics assessed the two patients then worked with NSW Police and Fire Rescue NSW to safely extract them from the vehicle," NSW Ambulance's David Lambert said.

They were both freed with minor injuries and were transported to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.

The driver of the other car is understood to have escaped unharmed.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.

"I urge all drivers to exercise caution in these wet and slippery conditions," Mr Lambert said.
