Couple killed after swerving to avoid kangaroo and hitting tree in central Victoria

A man and a woman have died after their car hit a tree when they swerved to avoid a kangaroo in central Victoria.

Police understand the couple were travelling north-east along Daylesford-Malmsbury Road in Denver when they swerved to miss the kangaroo and their car left the road and hit a tree, around 9.30pm yesterday.

Emergency service found the driver was found dead when they arrived at the scene of the crash.

Paramedics attempted to revive the woman but she also died at the scene.
