Two cars stolen during dramatic home invasion in Victoria

A homeowner has been injured after he tried desperately to cling on to his ute during a home robbery in Clyde North, south-east of Melbourne.

Kardy Murugathus, 30, and his partner Anne were asleep with their one-year-old son when thieves broke in through the laundry door.

The robbers snatched the couple's VW Amarok and BMW, as well as $2000 in cash, Anne's passport and medicine from the pantry.

Mr Murugathus saw his ute reversing out of their driveway and tried to stop the robbers in their tracks.

“I jumped on the back of the ute at the same time they put the accelerator on,” Mr Murugathus, who suffered leg injuries in the ordeal, told 9NEWS.

“My hands were very slippery… I just fell down.”

Police believe the home invasion on Wednesday morning was “well planned”.

The alleged offenders were captured on CCTV arriving in three separate cars, including a silver Holden ute.

The BMW was found dumped but undamaged in Dandenong North on Thursday night.

The ute remains missing.
