Malcolm Turnbull set to receive ABC report into Q&A

Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull is expected to receive a report of an investigation in the ABC's Q&A program on Tuesday.

The minister asked his department to hold an urgent investigation into the program that first aired on June 22 which featured Zaky Mallah, a former terror suspect and convicted criminal.

The department investigated the context in which Mr Mallah appeared on the program, the decision-making process for the appearance and the protocols used in regard to physical security for the live broadcast.

It also looked at the decision-making process behind the subsequent re-broadcast of the episode and the extent to which existing broadcasting codes applied to the situation.

The ABC has agreed to fully co-operate with this inquiry.

It is not yet determined when the report will be publicly released.
