Turnbull considers US climate decision

WHERE TO NOW FOR AUSTRALIA AND PARIS ACCORD?

* Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says Australia remains committed to its Paris accord target for carbon emissions reduction, through a mix of policies and technologies.

* The government is reviewing its climate policy settings, as investors remain in the dark about policy beyond 2020.

* PM and state premiers are due to receive the Finkel report into a review of the national electricity market, which is also considering emissions cuts, on June 9.

* Labor stands by the Paris accord, but wants an emissions intensity scheme.

* Foreign Minister Julie Bishop will discuss the issue with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in Sydney next week.

* Turnbull will get a chance to talk directly with Donald Trump about a "Paris 2.0 agreement" at the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany in July.

* US decision will be hot topic at the United Nations climate change talks in Bonn, Germany, in November.

* US withdrawal takes four years under the Paris accord process, taking it into the next presidential term of office.
