Turnbull backs NT statehood

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has thrown his support behind statehood for the Northern Territory.
Mr Turnbull reaffirmed the coalition government's backing for NT statehood by July 1, 2018, at a meeting of the Council of Australian Governments in Sydney on Friday.
NT Chief Minister Adam Giles says it was a "very important message to Territorians".
