Turia Pitt engaged to long-term boyfriend

Turia Pitt has become engaged to long-time partner Michael Hoskin after he popped the question with a diamond ring he bought as she lay in intensive care four years ago.

The former model became a national inspiration after she suffered horrific burns in a bushfire during a marathon in Western Australia in 2011.

As she lay in hospital after the agonising accident, her partner Mr Hoskin was by her side.

He has revealed to Australian Women's Weekly he bought a diamond engagement ring as she recovered.

The recent proposal was reportedly "the stuff of fairytales", taking place while the couple were on holiday in the Maldives.

"I’m so overwhelmed with love at the moment," Ms Pitt said.

"Michael’s my life partner, I’ve known that for years – and we’ve talked about marriage for as long as I can remember, and yet the proposal still came as a surprise."
