Truck driver walks away from crumpled b-double after dramatic crash

A truck driver has walked away after smashing his vehicle into a home in Melbourne’s east, felling powerlines.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Canterbury and Heathmont Road, Heathmont, just after 9.15am following reports of a crash.

The truck driver, aged in his 40s, was found trapped in his vehicle.

Firefighters worked for more than an hour to free the driver from the front cabin of the truck.

The 9NEWS chopper filmed the driver walking out of his crumpled truck, before being loaded into an ambulance.

He remains in a serious but stable condition in the Alfred Hospital.

Investigations are ongoing.
