Truck comes flying at couple after hit-run crash triggers chain reaction

A hit-run driver has caused a dramatic series of chain-reaction crashes at an Adelaide intersection.

The crashes were caught on dash-cam, after a driver ran a red light about 9.30am today and then fled before police arrived.

Three trucks and two cars were caught in the chaos at the intersection of Bedford Street and Eastern Parade at Gillman.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene and paramedics treated a man and a woman who were then taken to hospital.

One patient was a truck driver who was trapped in his cabin for almost 45 minutes.

The injured woman had been in a car that had a dash-cam recording at the moment of impact.

In the video, she can be heard screaming to her husband "My God, my God, are you alright, are you alright?"

Witness Christy Shannon told 9NEWS she was at work nearby when she heard an incredible loud "bang".

"We've all come out of the office and we've seen... people coming out of the cars, so we've gone to the people that we saw were injured," she said.

"It was chaos."
