The man, aged in his 30s, has been taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with hip pain and lacerations to his head.

A car is also believed to be leaking fuel after hitting the guard rail following the incident.

Northbound lanes of the M1 Motorway between exit 57 and 54 at Helensvale are heavy and motorists are advised to avoid the area or expect long delays.
