Father of former NSW police minister granted bail over alleged hit and run
The father of former police minister Troy Grant has been granted bail as video has emerged of the moment police chased after him following an alleged hit and run near Maitland.
Kenneth Wayne Grant, 70, a former police officer, was arrested at Ryde police station yesterday and charged with failing to stop after allegedly hitting NSW Health scientist Tony Greenfield after they attended a nearby party at Bolwarra in the state's Hunter region on November 30.

A Mazda utility, allegedly driven by Grant Senior, is then seen driving down Belmore Road at Lorn, before police do a u-turn to follow the car.
It's alleged police followed the car down several streets before the car mounted the footpath on a bridge in the neighbouring suburb of Maitland.

Grant Snr had previously been charged with mid-range drink driving and failing to stop for police on the night of the fatal accident but was only charged yesterday in relation to the hit and run.
"My father is devastated by what has happened. I am devastated," Mr Grant told reporters outside Burwood Local Court.
"His remorse is devastating. He has offered to trade his own life to bring Tony back," he added, before breaking down.
"Obviously I'm here to support my father today and attempt to get him bail," Mr Grant said.
"The only thing we can do is try and get (Mr Greenfield's) family and everyone the answers on how and why this tragedy has occurred, and that journey starts today."

Police allege Mr Grant Snr hit Mr Greenfield near the intersection of Flat and Paterson Roads, Bolwarra, about 11.30pm after leaving the party.
9News understands Mr Grant Snr previously told crash investigators he does not remember hitting Mr Greenfield.
In granting bail, magistrate Lisa Stapleton noted Grant Snr had cognitive issues which needed to be addressed - including amnesic episodes and post traumatic stress disorder.
The court had also heard he had been of previous "impeccable character" and fully cooperative with police since Mr Greendfield's death.

His barrister, Phillip Bolton SC, told the court his client was not a flight risk and had the support of his family.
''He feels very responsible about what happened and is very concerned about the welfare of the deceased's family," Mr Bolton told the court.
He was granted bail on the condition he abstain from drinking alcohol and reports to Gladesville police station every Monday.
He is next expected to appear before Maitland Local Court on December 18.
