Trial begins for Australian tradie accused of bizarre Bali rampage
The Adelaide tradesman accused of a bizarre and violent rampage in Bali has told a Denpasar court he doesn't remember the night because he was drunk.
Nicholas Carr has faced the first day of a trial after video went viral showing him allegedly fly-kicking a moving scooter driver on a busy Kuta road in August.
The 26-year-old is facing up to two years and eight months behind bars on an assault charge but lawyers are hoping for a reduced sentence after Carr compensated his victims in so-called "peace agreements".

The indictment read out in court during Carr's brief appearance today did not include original allegations of assaulting a grandfather at his own home as well as smashing the windows of several businesses.
Carr's father was one of two supporters at the trial.
They refused to speak to media as did Carr as he was escorted in handcuffs between a holding cell and courtroom.

He is also accused of terrorising locals. 9News
Previously the apprentice tradesman has been vocal.
He's publicly apologised several times and claimed he was drunk on more than 10 bottles of vodka and cocktails.
The trial will hear evidence from three security guards who detained Carr by tying him up, as well as a policeman.
The hearing resumes on Monday, with Carr being held at Kerobokan prison.
