It was probably an innocuous moment, but a photographer has managed to capture actor John Travolta looking exceptionally creepy while planting a passionate kiss on bombshell Scarlett Johansson on the Oscars red carpet.

The image has set social media abuzz, prompting tweets and captions competing for the biggest laugh.

Johansson appears to be uncomfortable with the gesture, her arms by her side and eyebrows tensely raised.

Travolta was the butt of the joke at last year’s Academy Awards when he mispronounced Frozen singer Idina Menzel’s name, calling her “Adele Dazeem”.
