Video shows the car stopping dead on the tracks at Bentley, and the train slamming into the Hyundai i-30 and driving it nearly 100 metres down the track. But the 45-year-old driver escaped her car just in time.

She had lost control driving along John Street in Bentley, leading her to end up on the tracks.

Police allege the woman did not have a valid licence. 9News

For more than three hours, emergency services worked to clear the track, while replacement buses were organised. Twelve people were on board the train but nobody was hurt.

The driver was offered counselling and time off for the close call.

Police allege the car driver was without a valid licence and should not have been behind the wheel.
