Traffic reporter caught in McDonald's drive-thru during live-cross

A US traffic reporter was caught way-off guard during a morning news report on Thursday morning when he pulled into McDonald's to order a "fish sandwich".

Freezing and hungry after being in the car for eight hours, 'Traffic Jam Jimmy' who reports on traffic conditions for Baltimore's Fox45 Morning News team was feeling a bit peckish ahead of a live cross.

Jimmy had already "been everywhere" to check traffic conditions on that snowy morning, but where he was when the live-cross came through was probably the one place he did not need to report on — a McDonald's drive-thru.

"Hey! Is it too early to get a fish sandwich?" Jimmy asks the operator, his order enquiry broadcast live across the state of Maryland.

He makes his way through the drive-thru when he realises he's on. "Oh Candace, we live? Whoops," he says to anchor Candace Dold.

"Hey, I been in the car since 4 o'clock, I'm just getting something real quick," Jimmy says before returning to his order.

"Hey! Is too early to get a fish sandwich?" Jimmy asks again, obviously hankering for a Fillet-O-Fish.

Unfortunately for Jimmy, it was still breakfast time and he had to settle for an egg McMuffin and a medium-sized black coffee.

"Don't tell the boss I did this," Jimmy says, suggesting that after eight hours in the car he was bound to feel hungry.

It might have been the second time Jimmy made his way through that very drive-thru that morning.

Not only is there a conspicuously-placed McDonald's box sitting on the back seat in full view of the camera, but one of the McDonald's workers shouts off camera: "It's the second time I've seen you."

According to Fox45 News, Jimmy did eventually get his fish sandwich.
