TPP dealt with like any other trade deal

A mammoth trade deal between a dozen nations including Australia and the United States will be dealt with by parliament the same way as any other bilateral trade deal.

Cabinet Secretary Arthur Sinodinos confirmed on Tuesday the text of the Trans-Pacific Partnership would be tabled in parliament for 20 sitting days, making it public.

The agreement is reviewed by parliament's treaties committee and will go through a national interest analysis before enabling legislation is considered by the parliament.

The Senate later called on the government to refer the text of the agreement to the commission for a "full-scale" review prior to it coming before parliament for a vote.
