Toyota issues major recall for popular SUV over safety warning fault
Thousands of Toyota owners are being warned that a software fault could stop critical safety warnings from appearing while they are behind the wheel.
The recall affects 13,042 of Toyota’s popular LandCruiser Prado, with the company warning drivers that they may not see alerts linked to engine oil pressure, engine temperature, and electrical charging systems.

According to a recall notice lodged with the federal government, the problem is caused by a software error impacting the vehicle’s instrument display screen.
“Due to a software error, the instrument cluster may fail to illuminate the visual engine oil pressure light, engine coolant temperature, electrical charge, and other critical safety information,” the notice states.
“Failure of the instrument cluster to display critical safety information or warning indicators may increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”
The recall involves 2024 and 2025 model LandCruiser Prados, including some sold after those dates.
Customers will be contacted and asked to arrange a free repair through their local dealership.
A software update will also be made available for owners to install the fix through the vehicle’s multimedia system.
A similar recall has been issued for 2593 of the 2024 and 2025 Lexus GX and Lexus UX.
A full list of affected vehicle identification numbers has been published as part of the recall notice.
