US singer Toni Braxton has been treated in an Atlanta hospital for complications connected to her battle with lupus disease.

Braxton was hospitalised for four days after reportedly falling ill from problems relating to her lupus condition, TMZ reported.

She has since been released and is resting at home, a representative for the singer told the Huffington Post.

"She was not in serious condition, though lupus is a serious disease and must be monitored at all times," the representative said.

The seven-time Grammy winner revealed she had lupus, an autoimmune disease which causes the body to attack its own organs, in 2010.

"Pretty much when you have lupus, you feel like you have the flu every day," Braxton told the Huffington Post in 2012.
