Tom Cruise officially confirmed for ‘The Mummy’ reboot

Actor Tom Cruise has been confirmed to star in Universal’s The Mummy, a remake of the 1923 Boris Karloff horror movie.

The 51-year-old has taken on a lead role in the movie, which will be released on June 9, 2017.

Kingsman: The Secret Service star Sofia Boutella has also been casted for The Mummy reboot.

The movie will be directed by Alex Kurtzman and produced by Chris Morgan and Sean Daniel.

Jon Spaihts is writing the movie but the plot details remain vague.

Unlike the three previous Mummy movies starring Brendan Fraser, the upcoming reboot will be set in the present day.
